Difference between Active and Passive Immunity

1. Active is a type of acquired immunity in which the body produces its own antibodies against disease causing insects. Passive is a type of acquired immunity in which ready made antibodies are transferred from one individual to other.

2. Active immunity have a long lasting effect. Passive immunity does not have a long lasting effect.

3. Active immunity is slow and takes time in producing antibodies and giving responses. Passive immunity is fast and provides immediate relief.

4. Example of Active Immunity: Injecting microbes through vaccination inside the body. Example of Passive Immunity: Transfer of antibodies present in the mothers milk to the infant.
