Difference between Passive and Active Filter

Difference between Passive and Active Filter

Distinguish, differentiate, compare and explain what is the difference between Passive and Active Filter. Comparison and Differences.

Difference between Passive and Active Filter

1. Passive Filters is made up of a combination of passive components such as Resistors (R), Inductors (L) and Capacitors (C). Active filters are made up of Operational amplifiers, Resistors, and Capacitors, except the Inductors.

2. In passive filters, an external power source is not required. Active filter need an external power source.

3. Passive filters are not restricted by the bandwidth limitations of operational amplifiers. At high frequencies, active filters are limited by the bandwidth of the operational amplifiers used.
