Difference between Self and Mutual Inductance

Inductance is a property of an electric circuit or component which causes an e.m.f to be generated in it (self-inductance) or in the neighboring circuit (mutual inductance) due to the change in the current flowing through the circuit.

If changing the current flowing in a coil produces emf in the same coil, it is called self-induction. If the changing current through one coil produces emf in another coil, it is called mutual induction.
