Differences between Recruitment and Selection Process

1 It is the process of finding and attracting qualified applicants for the job. It is the process of short-listing candidates, assembling and their final hiring decisions.
2 The objective of recruitment is to create a pool of eligible candidates for the purpose of selection. The objective of selection is to get the best candidate selected for the job.
3 Recruitment is the initial process. Selection is the final process.
4 Generally lower level managers deal with recruitment process. Mid and top level managers deals with selection process.
5 This process invites the applicants by saying “come”. This process tells ”Bye”’ to most of the applicants.
6 Recruitment involves searching. Selection involves comparing those already searched.
7 It is a positive process as it attracts people towards the organization. It is a negative process as it involves rejection of candidates at every stage of it.
8 It takes place before selection. It takes place after recruitment.
