Difference between Fertilisation and Germination

1. Fertilization is the fusion of male and female gametes. In Germination, the food reserves present in a seed are broken down and the embryo start to grow. During it, seeds convert into a seedling.

2. Fertilization occurs only after pollination when the pollen grain has germinated and sent the male gametes to the ovule. Germination begins when a seed starts to absorb water.

3. Fertilization occurs in plants and animals of yarns types. Germination occurs only in seed plants.
