Difference between POP3 and IMAP4

1. In POP3, the user cannot organize their mail on the server. In IMAP4, the user can organize their mail on the server.

2. There is only one mailbox (INBOX) exists on the server in POP3. Multiple mailboxes can be created on the desktop PC as well as on the server in IMAP4.

3. In POP3, a user cannot partially download email and all emails will be downloaded into desktop PC if you want to check new mail. In IMAP4, a user can partially download e-mail and a whole message will be downloaded only when it is opened for display from its content.
