Facebook has announced a new Android app called Facebook Lite, which is a version of FB built from scratch to work smoothly with poor data connections and low-end phones. The FB Lite app is small, allowing you to save space on your phone and use FB in 2G conditions.

Differences between Facebook and Facebook Lite App

Facebooks main app weighs in at 57 MB, Facebook Lite is a mere 2 MB- thats about 96.5% less space. Facebook Lite is designed to use less RAM and CPU power, as well as, so youll get a smoother experience on cheaper and less powerful phones. Facebook Lite even works on older phones that are no longer supported by the regular app.

FB Like is almost as fully featured as the regular FB app. You can still like and comment on your friends posts, visit their profiles, post to your own Timeline, and do everything else you normally do. FB Lite has a lot going for it. Its got all of FBs banner features, uses fewer system resources and less data, and works on slower connections. The only downside is that it feels kind of basic.
