Distinguish, differentiate, compare and explain what is the Difference between Maximum and Minimum Thermometers. Comparison and Differences.
Difference between Minimum and Maximum Thermometers
|When temperature rises, the mercury expands and pushes the index along the tube.
|When the temp rises, the alcohol expands but the index stays where it is.
|When temperature falls, the mercury contracts but the index stays where it was pushed to by mercury.
|When temperature falls, the alcohol contracts and its meniscus pulls the index along the tube.
|The maximum temperature is at the point where the index is. The index is then drawn back to the mercury by magnet for next reading.
|It is read the same way as the maximum thermometer.
